Gift i våtrum

Nu har jag köpt gift till våtrummen... Enligt svensk byggstandard ska man tätskikta badrummen för att förebygga fuktskador. Vi har dock byggt så att väggarna tål fukt – icke organiskt material. Därför har vi bara tätskikt på golvet. 3 olika hinkar med kemikalier – man plastar alltså in golvet med flytande plastfärg.  Hade helst velat undvika allt detta men det går inte – regler är regler.  Det finns många olika fabrikat av tätskiktsmaterial. Alla är giftiga...jag valde Höganäs eftersom våra hantverkare är vana vid deras produkter.

I have now purchased poison for the bathrooms...According to Swedish building regulations you have to waterproof the floor and walls of the bathroom to prevent water damage. However, we have built the walls with inorganic materials that can handle some moisture. Therefore, we only put the water proofing on the floor. 3 different buckets with chemicals - you create a plastic coating by using liquid plastic paint.  I wish we did not have to use this stuff - but rules are rules. There are lots of brands to choose from for water proofing materials. All are poisonous...I chose Höganäs because our builders are used to working with their products.

 

Innertrappa i betong

Snart ska vi gjuta trappan till övervåningen. Den går i vinkel, som ett L. Vi har byggt gjutformar och snart kommer pumpbilen med betong. Under trappan har vi ingen golvvärme och där ska det bli ett gammeldags kallskafferi.

It is soon time to pour the concrete for the staircase to the upstairs. It is L-shaped. We have built the molds and soon the pumptruck will deliver the concrete. Under the steps we did not put in floor heating and will use the space as a traditional cold pantry.

 

Gammalt tegel blir vacker vägg

I gäststugan har vi ett litet badrum och ett litet kök. Väggen som skiljer dem åt är murad av begagnat tegel. Härligt att kunna återanvända gamla tegelstenar och skapa en vacker vägg!  När man väl murat upp tegelväggen är den ju färdig på båda sidor - ingen målning, plattsättning eller putsning.

In the guesthouse we have a small bathroom and a kitchenette. The divider between the two is a brick wall, made with reclaimed bricks. Wonderful to be able to reuse old bricks and create a beautiful wall!  Once you have built up the brick wall you are done on both sides - no need to paint, plaster and put up tiles.

Tegelstenarna köpte vi i Malmö, från Malmö Återbyggsdepå som säljer allt möjligt från gamla hus.

We bought the bricks in Malmö, at the Malmö Återbyggsdepå selling all sorts of materials from old houses.

När man går ut på baksidan möts man av enorma tegelhögar...

When you walk out in the back you are faced with a view of enormous brick piles...

Men man behöver inte leta stenar själv utan de finns rensade och staplade på lastpallar.

But you don't need to sort the bricks yourself - they are already cleaned and neatly stacked on pallets.

Vi köpte 3 pallar (3 ton). De varierade ganska mycket i storlek när vi började använda dem...De som inte går åt i gäststugan ska användas i stora huset som vägg mellan mathörnan och bastun. Där använder vi de längre stenarna (26 cm) till ena väggen och de andra (25 cm) till den andra väggen.

We bought 3 pallets (3 tons). They varied quite a bit in size when we started using them...what we don't use in the guest house will be used in the main house as a wall between the dining area and the sauna. We will use the longer bricks (26 cm) on one wall and the rest (25 cm) for the other wall.

Under tegelväggen har vi en 250 mm tjock leca vägg - mycket enklare att dra alla rör och ledningar till kök och badrum i lecaväggen istället för i tegel.  Eftersom leca blocken är bredare än tegelstenarna får vi en hylla i badrummet.

Below the brick wall we have a 250 mm thick leca wall - much easier to install pipes and wires for kitchen and bathrooms in the leca than in the brick.  Since the leca wall is wider than the brick wall we get a shelf in the bathroom.

Eluttaget i köket funkade bra även i tegelväggen!

The electrical outlet in the kitchen worked well even in brick! 

Vad snyggt det blir! Nu ser man fortfarande innertaket på gäststugan när man är i badrummet, men snart bygger vi på ett sovloft på badrum och kök och då får man inte in samma ljus i badrummet. 

Looks nice!  You still see the ceiling of the guest house when you are in the bathroom, but soon we will build a sleep loft on top of the bathroom and kitchen and then you no longer have the same light coming into the bathroom.
